MORBI: In a significant development for India’s ceramic industry, the first container train was flagged off from the newly developed Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GRGM) at Rafaleshwar, Morbi, on 4th September 2025. The commencement of operations marks a major milestone for G-RIDE and the Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR), enhancing multimodal logistics connectivity in the region.

Located strategically in Morbi, the hub of India’s ceramic exports, the terminal spans 27 hectares and has been designed to cater to the growing logistics needs of both small and large-scale industries. With state-of-the-art infrastructure and streamlined facilities, GRGM is expected to significantly reduce turnaround time and logistics costs, thereby improving operational efficiency.

“This terminal will play a crucial role in boosting export competitiveness, enabling faster cargo movement, and providing cost-effective logistics solutions to industries across Saurashtra,” a CONCOR official said.

The launch of the container train services from Morbi is anticipated to accelerate industrial growth in Saurashtra by improving market access for ceramic products and other commodities. The development aligns with the Gati Shakti National Master Plan and supports key national and regional initiatives, including Make in India, Viksit Gujarat, and Viksit Bharat.

Industry experts believe that the new terminal will position Morbi as a stronger global player in the ceramic market by streamlining exports and enhancing supply chain resilience.
