DPA Kandla records 25% growth in LPG cargo handling, strengthening India’s energy logistics network
GANDHIDHAM : Guided by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure and energy logistics ecosystem.
In a significant achievement during FY 2025-26, DPA Kandla handled 133 LPG vessels and 2.61 million metric tonnes (MMT) of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cargo, registering an impressive 25% year-on-year growth. The performance underscores the port’s growing importance as a key gateway for India’s energy imports and its commitment to operational excellence, efficiency, and customer-focused growth.
The robust growth reflects increasing confidence among trade stakeholders in Kandla’s world-class infrastructure, streamlined cargo handling processes, and efficient vessel turnaround capabilities. The port has consistently enhanced its operational efficiencies through modernization initiatives, digitalization, and infrastructure upgrades, enabling it to cater to the rising demand for energy cargo handling.
As one of India’s leading ports for bulk and liquid cargo, DPA Kandla serves as a critical hub for the import and distribution of LPG, ensuring a steady supply of clean cooking fuel and industrial energy products to consumers and industries across the country. The port’s strategic location, extensive hinterland connectivity, and dedicated energy cargo facilities have contributed significantly to its sustained growth trajectory.
The achievement also aligns with the Government of India’s vision of strengthening energy security, enhancing logistics efficiency, and supporting economic growth through the development of world-class port infrastructure under initiatives such as Maritime India Vision 2030.
Port officials attributed the strong performance to the collective efforts of port users, shipping lines, terminal operators, logistics partners, and DPA’s workforce, whose commitment has enabled the port to consistently deliver reliable and efficient services.
