Antwerp Port announces New Intermodal connections January 2021

ANTWERP : Swissterminal is offering a new barge connection between Basel and Birsfelden and the port of Antwerp from December 2020. In addition, the existing rail connection from Swiss terminal between Antwerp and Basel – Frenkendorf and Niederglatt will be improved from January 2021: it will be switched from an indirect service (via Neuss) to a direct service. New barge connection between Basel and Birsfelden & the port of Antwerp :
• Destination: Switzerland
• Mode: barge
• Operator: Swiss terminal
• Starting date: December 2020
• Frequency: 2x per week
• Type of cargo: containers
• Terminals at destinations: Basel and Birsfelden
• Terminals in Antwerp: 913, 364, 504, 524, 730, 734, 742, 1333, 1610, 1742, 1718, 1624 869, 1700

Improvement of existing rail connection :
• Destination: Switzerland
• Mode: rail – change from indirect service (via Neuss) to direct service
• Operator: Swiss terminal
• Traction: BLS Cargo, Rail traxx
• Starting date: January 2021
• Frequency: 3x per week
• Type of cargo: containers
• Terminals at destinations: Basel – Frenkendorf, Niederglatt
• Terminals in Antwerp: 1700, 1742, 1718
