DOSTAS to organise Maritime Seminar DIMS -2022

KOCHI : Department of Ship Technology Alumni Society (DOSTAS) of Cochin University (an Alumni of more than 1000 Naval Architects), organising the Second Edition of International Maritime Seminar, DIMS-2022 which will be held on 9th & 10th of August 2022 at Crowne Plaza, Kochi.

DIMS 2022 will be an excellent opportunity to hear from leading industry and technical experts from INDIA and all around the world. This two-days conference will provide an unrivaled environment to exchange information, showcase latest technical innovations, explore collaborations, solicit business opportunities and take stock of trends and issues at the heart of future strategies.

DIMS 2022 will see a gathering of 400 delegates representing various stakeholders in ship and offshore industry.

The event will be inaugurated by Shri. P. Rajeev, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Law and Coir in the Government of Kerala. Shri. Madhu S Nair, Chairman & Managing Director, Cochin Shipyard and Mr. Chris Boyd, Chief Executive of Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), London will be the other guests in the inaugural function.

During the event technical papers will be presented on the topics listed below:

  • Trends in Green Shipping and Decarbonisation
  • Digitalisation & Automation in Shipping Industry
  • Design and Optimisation of Marine Structures

There will be a panel discussion on 9th August 2022 on the topic “Kochi – A city of Maritime Centre of Excellence”. The panel will be chaired by Shri. Madhu S. Nair and other expected eminent dignitaries in the panel are Dr. Satheesh Babu, HoD, Dept. of Ship Technology, Dr. M. Beena, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, Dr. Ajith Kumar K. Director, NPOL, Kochi, Adv. M. Anilkumar– Mayor, Cochin Corporation, Shri Hibi Eden, MP, Ernakulam and Dr. Jeevan Sudhakaran, CMD, Samudra Shipyard.

There will another panel discussion on 10th August 2022 – “Logistics and Supply chain optimization. A luxury or need of the hour?”. The discussion will be looking into optimization in logistics costs and stowage and comparing the cost in Indian and world scenario. Panel Chair is Shri. Cyril Varghese, Global Logistics Director at Fluor Corporation.
Other dignitaries in this panel discussion includes Shri. Sameer Parikh of JM Baxi and Dr. Cyril George, Ex-deputy Chairman of Cochin Port Trust.
