SINGAPORE : Over the past 27 years, PIL has witnessed the transformation of Bangladesh to becoming a fast-growing economy in the Indian sub-continent region. With many retail clothing manufacturers relocating their factories to Bangladesh in recent years, the country is now a huge market for consumer products.

Recognising the potential for growth in Bangladesh, since 1995, PIL has progressively grown from its first office in Chittagong, to its current set-up of three offices within Bangladesh, as part of a joint venture with a local partner, offering shipping, crew manning and container depot and logistics services.

Each week, PIL operates five services connecting Bangladesh ports like Chittagong and Mongla with Malaysia and Singapore.

To thank our customers in Bangladesh for their long-standing support, Surendran Mathilagath, PIL’s new Head of Intra-Asia Services, flew to the country and hosted a customer reception on 15 November 2022 at the Hotel Inter Continental in Dhaka.

It was a privilege to have Mr. S Iswaran, Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Ministry of Trade and Industry, join the reception together with His Excellency, Derek Loh, the Singapore non-Resident High Commissioner to Bangladesh. Minister Iswaran was on an official visit to Bangladesh. Ms. Sheela Pillai, Consul of Singapore in Bangladesh based in Dhaka, also attended the event together with seven representatives from the Singapore Business Federation.

At the reception, Surendran reinforced PIL’s commitment to continue to participate in and contribute to the growth of Bangladesh through actively meeting the needs of customers in the country.
