NEW DELHI : R N Singh taken charge as the General Manager of Southern Railway on Monday. He was principal executive director, infrastructure, ministry of railways, and secretary of Railway Board.
A 1986 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers cadre, Singh has served the railways and PSUs in executive and management positions. The posts he held include those of divisional railway manager (Delhi division) and managing director of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited.
He has rich experience in planning and execution of mega-infrastructure projects like dedicated freight corridors, major bridges and high speed railway. He has wide exposure in various aspects of railway management during his career spanning more than 34 years.
He has specialised in project management, railway operations, public private partnership and strategic management.
An alumnus of IIT-Roorkee, Singh has undergone multiple trainings like disaster management in Holland, advanced management in Singapore and Malaysia, strategic management in Paris, mechanised maintenance in Austria and executive management in University of Bocconi, Italy
