MUMBAI : Samsara Group is immensely proud to be associated with the massive project of Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) – a 22 km-long sea link that will connect South Mumbai to Navi Mumbai.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on 17th Mar’ 22 launched a 180-metre-long orthotropic steel deck (OSD) on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) which is the longest OSD launched on the MTHL, giving a navigation space of 180 metres to ships traversing under the bridge without obstruction. So far, five steel girders or OSDs have been launched on the MTHL. There will be a total of 70 OSDs on MTHL, according to a company release.
The OSD, a steel deck superstructure which weighs lesser than concrete girders are being used for the first time in the country, will carry the vehicular load more efficiently and improve the load carrying capacity of the bridge, as compared to a concrete superstructure, read the release.
Samsara Group has been handling the vessels bringing part of MTHL for last two years from Taiwan, Vietnam, China and Japan and has so far handled about 25000 MT / 125000 CBM of various types of Bridge Parts, the release emphasised.
