15 MoUs signed for investment of Rs. 4,490 crore in tourism sector in Gujarat
GANDHINAGAR : In a significant boost to the tourism industry, 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 4,490 crore were executed on Wednesday. These pacts, when initiated, are anticipated to create over 11,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Among the MoUs is one between Mazagon Dock Shipbuilder Limited and the state government, resulting in a distinctive project in the tourism industry. This pact aims to construct a submarine capable of accommodating 32 individuals, dedicated to underwater adventure tourism in Dwarka. It will offer tourists the opportunity to explore marine life, including soft corals, hydroids, and sea anemones.
Moreover, it will also provide people with the chance to witness archaeological and historical sites, including a submerged city. The project is slated to commence next year and is expected to provide employment for approximately 100 individuals.
Renowned filmmaker Ketan Mehta has entered into an MoU worth over Rs 200 crore. This agreement is in addition to Rs 255 crore worth of MoUs signed with five film production companies planning to invest in Gujarat’s film production sector, generating around 2,450 jobs.
MoUs have also been formalized in the hospitality sector for the development of upscale hotels, resorts, and villas.
Furthermore, agreements were inked between the Civil Aviation Department of the state government and the Airport Authority of India, focusing on the advancement and development of the aviation sector.
