2M Alliance, which comprises the largest container carriers Maersk and MSC, has announced changes in the voyage numbers for several services from Asia to Europe.

With the latest changes, the alliance aims to provide better schedule reliability amid the current challenging market situation.

Maersk stated that the unprecedented situation of severing port congestions globally continues to result in the accumulation of delays across several services on the Asia to Europe Network.

“These accumulated delays are currently causing further gaps in the schedules and have resulted in several Asia departures being spread apart by more than seven days,” explained the Danish liner operator.

Furthermore, MSC said that “the current challenging market situation impacting port activities and generating congestion across the supply chain” has led to the revision of voyage numbers.

Hence, the two partners noted that the voyage numbers will change on their common sailing program for the Asia – North Europe and Mediterranean network, in order to match with corresponding actual departure weeks of the vessels and services from Asia.
