Hapag-Lloyd drops Asia – Latin America Service from Feb next year

HAMBURG : The German line Hapag Lloyd will be closing the JCS Service as of the end of February 2025, as it opts to deploy its vessel on one of Gemini services. This route is jointly operated as part of THE Alliance with CMA CGM and Cosco Shipping Lines, who call it PEX2 and CAX1, respectively.

Hapag-Lloyd is expected to opt to deploy its 10,000 teu-Seaspan Zambezi container ship on one of the Gemini’s Asia-Caribbean services that it will form from February with Maersk as part of the Gemini Cooperation in February 2025

The eastbound connection will be covered by the new US2 service (TP12 for Maersk), which has a double call at Cartagena. The Colombian port will also form part of the westbound itinerary of the new US3 service (TP15 for Maersk).

The Gemini alliance is prioritising mainline calls at hubs where one of the two partners has an operating stake in the terminal. Maersk’s APM Terminals holds a 51% stake in Cartagena Container Terminal.
