Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet by the T.N. Government to boost exports
COIMBATORE : The Tamil Nadu Government will conduct reverse buyer-seller meets in major cities every six months, said T.M. Anbarasan, the State’s Minister for MSMEs. In a major initiative to strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position as a global export hub, the Tamil Nadu Government is organizing a Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM). This strategic event is designed to bring international buyers directly into contact with local manufacturers and suppliers across sectors like textiles, automotive components, electronics, and agriculture. By fostering direct engagement, the state aims to help local businesses expand their global footprint and enhance export revenues.
Inaugurating a two-day Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet organised by FaMe TN in Coimbatore on Thursday, the Minister announced that a large-scale meet will be held in Chennai next year, with additional meets planned in cities like Tiruchi, Madurai, and Tirunelveli to support MSMEs in accessing international markets. The first such meeting, held in Chennai, saw 164 MSMEs signing agreements for orders worth ₹42.68 crore, including ₹16.45 crore secured by 73 first-time exporters.
Key Objectives and Expected Outcomes
The RBSM initiative seeks to promote local industries, showcase Tamil Nadu’s production capabilities, and build lasting international trade relationships. For buyers, the meet provides an exclusive opportunity to explore the high-quality goods Tamil Nadu has to offer without the need for extensive overseas travel. This aligns with the government’s goals to increase export volumes and diversify into new markets, contributing to the state’s economic growth.
The state’s focus on boosting exports through such initiatives aligns with India’s broader trade ambitions and strengthens Tamil Nadu’s status as a leader in industrial growth and export resilience.
