India at the 133rd IMO Council Meeting

LONDON : Under the visionary leadership of Shri T. K. Ramachandran, IAS, Secretary, MoPSW, the Indian delegation including Director General of Shipping actively participated in the 133rd Council Meeting of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The Indian delegation advocated for IMO-IALA cooperation. India’s proposal to include “seafarer well-being” as a criterion for the International Maritime Prize was accepted.

The IMO Council is the executive organ of IMO and is responsible, under the Assembly, for supervising the work of the Organization. The Council is made up of 40 Member States, elected by the Assembly for two-year terms.
