EGYPT : Damietta Container & Cargo Handling Company has marked a significant milestone in its operations, reporting the handling of 1.7 million TEUs in 2024, showcasing its alignment with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for transforming into a global and regional logistics hub.

Under the leadership of Rear Admiral Dr. Rafik Galal, Executive Managing Director, and guided by the strategic directives of Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, the company has excelled in operational efficiency and service delivery. This performance has established Damietta Port as a favored destination for the world’s top ten shipping lines and various global import/export businesses.

In 2024, the company managed 1,709,869 TEUs across ships, trains, and trucks, contributing robustly to the national economy. This includes 1,571,249 TEUs handled via maritime routes and 138,620 TEUs via rail and road, encompassing import, export, and transit activities.

Damietta Container Terminal’s achievements are particularly noteworthy given the intense competition in the Eastern Mediterranean and the complex geopolitical climate affecting the region. Innovative marketing strategies, a skilled workforce, and state-of-the-art equipment have been crucial in navigating these challenges.

Moreover, for the first time, the company was recognized among the Top 100 Container Terminals globally by Lloyd’s List in 2024. This accolade was highlighted during the World Maritime Day celebrations, underscoring the terminal’s critical role in enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian ports.

Dr. Galal credited these accomplishments to the dedicated efforts of the company’s staff, who ensure continuous operation throughout the year. These successes not only highlight Damietta’s pivotal role in Egypt’s logistics sector but also its contribution to the country’s broader economic objectives.
