Musk proposes renaming English Channel to George Washington Channel

MOSCOW : US billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on Sunday proposed renaming the English Channel to the George Washington Channel after the first US President. 

“New name for the water that separates England and France,” Musk said on X, attaching a geographical map of the strait, where it is already named after George Washington.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to start the process of renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. The US Secretary of the Interior must take “all appropriate actions” for the renaming “within 30 days”, according to the document. Trump had announced this intention before his inauguration, saying that this step would be part of his administration’s new policy.
