ACB Gujarat arrests Customs Inspector of ICD Khodiyar and 2 others in bribe case
GANDHINAGAR : In a successful operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has apprehended a Customs Inspector and two associates for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,32,000.
The accused have been identified as 1. Satinderpal Singh Kulwantsingh Arora, Customs Inspector, ICD Khodiyar, Jamiyatpura Container Depot, Gandhinagar. 2. Ankit Bhupendrabhai Desai, Resident Engineer (outsourced), Customs Department, and 3. Ghulam Dastgir Bhikhamiyan Malek, Private Person.
The complainant alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 2,32,000 for clearing approximately 272 containers of chemical raw material belonging to the complainant’s company. These containers were held at the ICD Khodiyar customs facility between September and November 2024.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. A trap was laid on February 1, 2025, at the parking area of the ICD Khodiyar Customs Office. During the operation, accused number 1 instructed accused number 2 to contact accused number 3. Following these instructions, accused number 3 directly communicated with the complainant and accepted the bribe amount. All three accused were subsequently apprehended at the scene.
The entire bribe amount of Rs. 2,32,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Shri H.B. Chavda, Field Police Inspector, Gandhinagar ACB Unit, and Shri A.K. Parmar, Assistant Director, Gandhinagar ACB Unit.
