ABU DHABI : AD Ports announced the signing of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Gujarat Maritime Board and RITES Limited, a certified multi-disciplinary transport and infrastructure firm.

The MoUs encompass a wide array of collaborative ventures, spanning infrastructure development, technology transfer, sustainable and green port development, as well as maritime education and tourism.

“Our collaboration with these distinguished Indian entities is set to significantly advance the objectives of both of our great nations, building on the strong, successful and well-established relationship. With our wise leaders’ guidance, we aim to further our ambitious economic objectives that will profoundly impact global commerce, invigorating ancillary sectors,” stated Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO, of AD Ports Group.

Specifically, the agreements aim to drive infrastructure development by constructing new ports and modernizing existing facilities, along with technology transfer initiatives. They also focus on sustainable port development, including renewable energy deployment, waste management, and emission reductions, in line with global environmental standards.

The first MoU underscores the importance of maritime education and training, including potential collaboration with Gujarat Maritime University and the establishment of a Center of Excellence within the university, known as the Gujarat International Maritime Arbitration Centre (GIMAC).

Additionally, the agreement explores opportunities for direct and indirect investments, joint ventures, and the development of a Port City in Gujarat.

Furthermore, the collaboration between the companies aims to explore mutual opportunities in port development, multimodal logistic parks, economic and free trade zones, rail connectivity projects, and related infrastructure services.

This partnership will drive innovative solutions in integrated logistics, leveraging technology, sustainability, and strategic planning to deliver economically viable, environmentally sustainable, and technologically advanced projects.

In light of the announcement at the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit for the planned India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), AD Ports Group and Rites Limited have also agreed to explore potential joint opportunities aligned with the initiative’s objectives.

Overall, this agreement aligns with the Group’s goal of establishing Abu Dhabi as a pivotal hub in the global trade network, supported by its comprehensive portfolio of logistics and maritime services tailored to the evolving needs of the global market.

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi said, “As a Group, we are committed to expanding our global footprint, creating value, driving economic diversification, and making a positive impact on the communities we serve. Through leveraging our collective expertise and resources, with a clear strategy for growth through integration and expansion, we can set new global benchmarks in operational excellence, digital innovation, and sustainable growth.”
