Air India plans international network expansion
NEW DELHI : Air India will be increasing its international flight destinations with new flights to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Manila, Seattle, Dallas, and Gatwick. It plans to add these cities to the list of around 40 international destinations in its network.
While flights to Ho Chi Minh City are slated to commence in June, services to other destinations such as Manila, Seattle, Dallas, and Gatwick might start later this year.
Besides these destinations, additional flight frequencies to Europe are on the cards.
While Air India on Wednesday announced about flying to Ho Chi Minh City from June, it did not respond to Fe’s queries about the other destinations.
According to sources, the airline also plans to increase flight frequencies to Australia, especially on the Delhi-Sydney and Mumbai-Melbourne routes.
Last year, Air India commenced flights on new routes such as Bengaluru-Singapore, Kochi-Doha, Kolkata-Bangkok, and Mumbai-Melbourne. In all it added seven new international destinations to the network.
As part of its Summer Schedule 2024, Air India’s departures increased by over 4.59% on a year-on-year basis to 2,278.
The airline’s international weekly departures have also increased by over 5.1% on a year-on-year basis to 455
