AITWA Hosts Landmark Meeting in Mumbai: Launches GreenGrid Forum strengthening Commitment to Sustainability
Welcomes Women Transporters for the first time and continued Driver Welfare activities
MUMBAI : All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA), India’s premier body for road transporters, held a pivotal meeting in Mumbai on June 6, 2025, unveiling several key initiatives aligned with the nation’s development goals and sustainability roadmap.

Launch of GreenGrid Forum to Accelerate EV Truck Adoption
In a major step towards promoting sustainable logistics, AITWA officially launched the GreenGrid Forum— a strategic initiative that reinforces its commitment to supporting the Government of India’s decarbonisation goals. The forum aims to accelerate the adoption of electric trucks by facilitating collaboration among key stakeholders.
Through this platform, AITWA, in partnership with e-FAST India and NITI Aayog, will work to identify and address the challenges faced by early EV truck adopters. Insights and data from existing EV fleet owners will be shared within the community to minimize adoption hurdles and fast-track return on investment for new entrants. Collaboration shall be increased to avoid under utilisation of resources.
The forum will also serve as a conduit between green-conscious shippers and EV operators, helping reduce empty return trips and improve operational viability. Additionally, AITWA is actively engaging with both central and state governments to unlock necessary incentives and subsidies aimed at reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for electric trucks.

Empowering Women in Transport: New Women’s Wing Chairperson Appointed
As part of its commitment to inclusive growth under Viksit Bharat 2047, AITWA proudly announced the appointment of Mrs. Reema Jogani as Chairperson of the newly formed AITWA Women’s Wing—a dedicated platform for women entrepreneurs in the transport industry.
Initiated by Mr. Abhishek Gupta, General Secretary of AITWA, the wing has already welcomed over 25 women business leaders. “This platform will serve as a collaborative network for women who are leading logistics businesses across India. We’re going for a ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ with the Honourable Transport Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari ji where our women members will voice their challenges and suggestions for transforming the transport industry into a more inclusive and efficient ecosystem,” said Mr. Gupta.
Tech for Safety: AI Systems for Reducing Road Accidents
AITWA also unveiled a partnership with Intangles to promote affordable AI-powered driver assistance technologies aimed at reducing road accidents.
“Accidents don’t just happen—they are caused,” said Mr. Ashok Goyal, President of AITWA. “It is our duty as fleet owners to equip our drivers with real-time tools that prevent mishaps and save lives.”
Boosting Welfare for Truck Drivers through Highway Heroes+
The meeting also highlighted the expansion of AITWA’s Highway Heroes+ (HH+) programme, powered by Lawyered, to include robust medical support for truck drivers and their families.
“Our goal is to improve the lives of truck drivers in a meaningful way,” said Mr. Anjani Agarwal, Executive President of AITWA. “With our recent CSR registration, we aim to scale HH+ initiatives and advocate for direct Ayushman Bharat green-channel access for every HCV driver—a move that would significantly ease their financial burden and uplift this vital yet overlooked workforce.”
Learning from Leaders
One of India’s leading transport group patriach Mr Ashok Shah of V-Trans Limited shared his journey and learnings with the young audience. His contributions to the trade & society were appreciated by the members present.
Nationwide Rollout Planned
Following the success of the Mumbai event, AITWA plans to conduct similar forums across the country to drive greater awareness around EV adoption, alternate fuels, and road safety.
