Anjna Panwar visits DPA Kandla

GANDHIDHAM : Smt. Anjna Panwar, Hon’ble Vice Chairperson of the National Commission of Safai Karamcharis, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, visited Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla,. The visit underscored the Commission’s commitment to ensuring the welfare and dignity of Safai Karamcharis and labourers across the Nation.

During her visit, the Hon’ble Vice Chairperson inspected the infrastructure and facilities provided by DPA to its workers. She appreciated the Port’s operational efficiency and its continuous efforts toward creating a conducive and safe working environment for its workforce.

Smt. Panwar also chaired a detailed and interactive meeting attended by Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman-DPA; Shri Nandeesh Shukla, IRTS, Dy. Chairman-DPA; Shri Sunil Solanki, IAS, Deputy Collector-Anjar (Kutch); senior officials of the Port; representatives from trade unions, workers, labourers and Safai Karamcharis.

The meeting covered critical issues including the safety and hygiene of workers, sanitation improvements and the welfare measures. Smt. Panwar emphasized the importance of addressing the specific needs of Safai Karamcharis and ensuring that they work in an environment free from risks to their health and well-being.

Discussions also focused on advancing the social security benefits for Safai Karamcharis, including access to medical care, skill development opportunities and schemes aimed at uplifting their socio-economic conditions. The Hon’ble Vice Chairperson lauded DPA’s ongoing efforts in maintaining safe & clean environment at the port premises, aligning with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative.

Smt. Panwar also toured key operational areas of the Port, gaining first-hand insight into the challenges faced by workers. She interacted with them to understand their grievances and assured them of the Commission’s support in addressing their concerns.

The visit concluded with a commitment to prioritize the welfare of the workforce while enhancing the Port’s efficiency and service delivery. The Hon’ble Vice Chairperson urged DPA to continue setting benchmarks for worker welfare and operational excellence in India’s maritime sector.
