APM Terminals Mumbai welcomes the maiden call on the newly added VGI Service

MUMBAI : APM Terminals Mumbai, also known as Gateway Terminals India (GTI) welcomed the maiden call on the newly added Vietnam Gulf India (VGI) Service. MV ESL Kabir, operated by Emirates Shipping Line, berthed at 0900 hrs on 19th September 2023. The vessel was received by the operations team of GTI and Emirates Shipping lines. A special memento was presented to the Vessel Master to commemorate the occasion.

The VGI service opens a new chapter at GTI with the first connection to Vietnam. The service also calls at APM Terminals operated Cai Mep terminal in Vietnam. The service connects to GTI through Laem Chabang, Port Kelang and then further to the Middle-East offering calls at Sohar, Dammam and Jebel Ali.

The first vessel of the new service, ESL Kabir, was given a grand welcome at GTI with a stupendous operational performance reaffirming GTI as the terminal of choice at Nhava Sheva. The vessel performed 1913 moves at an average crane moves per hour of 48.7 (a new record at GTI) and was sailed out under 11 hours (less than half the time envisaged) with Port Hours Savings of 50.1 %, again a new record at GTI.
