Aponte takes 2025 newbuilding blitz to $8.5bn with 10-ship deal in China
GENEVA : Gianluigi Aponte’s MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is poised to see out the year by inking an order for 10 LNG dual-fuel neo-panamax container ships worth $1.4bn.
The deal at the billionaire’s favourite Chinese shipyard would bring the shipping magnate’s spending on boxship newbuildings in 2025 to about $8.5bn.
MSC is returning to Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard to order six dual-fuel 11,400-teu vessels for delivery in 2029, according to multiple shipbuilding players.
