Ashwini Vaishnaw visits Austrian company’s largest manufacturing plant in the world in Gujarat
NEW DELHI : Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday visited Plasser India Ltd’s machine manufacturing plant near Vadodara, underscoring its significance in manufacturing domestic as well as export-oriented machines and providing skill training for youth. The minister inspected machines at the facility that are manufactured for western countries and praised the plant’s contribution to India’s “Make in India” initiative.
Highlighting the plant’s role, Vaishnaw stated that the facility provides valuable skill training opportunities, including to students of the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. “Shri Narendrabhai Modi initiated a massive ‘Make in India’ drive after becoming Prime Minister. Plasser’s factory in Vadodara is a significant part of this initiative,” he said.
The factory, operated by the Austrian company Plasser & Theurer, became operational in 2019 and specializes in manufacturing complex track maintenance machines. Vaishnaw noted that this is the largest plant of the Austrian company globally. In addition to meeting domestic needs, the facility exports machines to countries such as Australia and Argentina, contributing to India’s growing prominence in global manufacturing.
The minister also highlighted the factory’s focus on skill development. “The plant not only manufactures state-of-the-art machines but also offers training in design, manufacturing, and testing of these machines. Students of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya will benefit immensely from this exposure,” he added.
