At India Maritime Week 2025, JNPA champions ‘Prosperity through Partnership’ for a future-ready maritime ecosystem
MUMBAI : Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) – India’s largest container port, marked a strong presence at India Maritime Week 2025, held from October 27 to 31, 2025, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. Over the five days, JNPA highlighted its achievements, upcoming initiatives, and future ready infrastructure at JNPA stall, attracting widespread attention from dignitaries, industry experts, and international delegates.
The JNPA stall was graced by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, and the Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, who appreciated JNPA’s contribution toward India’s maritime growth. Hon’ble Minister of Marketing and Protocol, Government of Maharashtra, Shri Jayakumar Jitendrasinh Rawal, also visited JNPA stall. Several other eminent visitors, including senior officials from the Ministry, port sector leaders, foreign delegates, and corporate representatives, also interacted with the JNPA team during the event.








During the event, JNPA signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with major Indian and global organisations, collectively amounting to over ₹228,300 crore, aimed at boosting infrastructure development, financial collaboration, and technological advancement at JNPA and the upcoming Vadhvan Port. The key MoUs signed include :
• Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) and JNPA – Intent to participate at Vadhvan Port for offshore projects (₹26,500 crore)
• Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) and JNPA – Intent to participate at Vadhvan Port for development of container terminals (₹25,000 crore)
• Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) and JNPA – Intent to extend financial support for the Vadhvan Project (₹20,000 crore)
• Evergreen Marine Pvt. Ltd. and JNPA – Intent to participate in development of terminals at Vadhvan Project (₹10,000 crore)
• HUDCO and JNPA – Intent for financing and developing infrastructure at JN Port (₹5,000 crore)
• Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) and JNPA – Cooperation in dredging activities of Mumbai and JN Port for long-term collaboration (₹1,500 crore)
• Gulftainer Company Ltd. and JNPA – Intent to develop terminals at Vadhvan Port (₹4,000 crore)
• Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Ltd. (IPRCL) and JNPA – Supplying two green tugs to JNPA (₹300 crore)
• Boskalis International B.V. and JNPA – Development and maintenance of reclaimed land at Vadhvan Port (₹26,500 crore)
• Aegis Logistics Ltd. and JNPA – Development of terminal for handling containers, bulk, and liquid cargo at Vadhvan Port (₹20,000 crore)
• Bhilosa Industries Ltd. and JNPA – Creation of infrastructure to facilitate marine services, intermodal connectivity, and sustainability initiatives (₹15,000 crore)
• NMDC and JNPA – Intent to participate at Vadhvan Port for construction of offshore breakwater for the greenfield project at Dahanu (₹6,500 crore)
• Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. and JNPA – Intent to participate at Vadhvan Port for construction of offshore breakwater (Package 1A) for the greenfield project at Dahanu (₹6,500 crore)
• NCC Limited and JNPA worth for VPPL ₹26,500 crore
• WAN HAI Lines and JNPA worth for VPPL ₹20,000 crore
• Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and JNPA for VPPL worth ₹6,500 crore
• Savita Oil Technologies Ltd. & JNPA worth 1,500 crore
• Cemindia Project Ltd. & JNPA worth ₹6,500 crore
• Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) & JNPA worth 500 crore
JNPA also participated actively in several panel discussions and strategic sessions during the week, contributing insights on topics such as port digitalization, coastal connectivity, and the future of global maritime trade. The Maharashtra State Session at India Maritime Week 2025, hosted by JNPA, outlined a bold roadmap for the state’s maritime growth, positioning Maharashtra as India’s leading maritime hub.
Graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the session featured key MoU signings and strategic insights from senior officials on the state’s three-pillar approach — led by the world-class Vadhvan Port project, sustainable infrastructure, and multimodal connectivity. The event also saw the Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) inauguration, emphasizing international cooperation and resilient global supply chains, followed by eight strategic MoU exchanges by JNPA. The technical
sessions — Logistics Reinvented and From Ports to Prosperity — explored seamless
connectivity, port-led economic transformation, and JNPA’s pivotal role as India’s
top-performing container port.
Adding further depth to its international engagement, JNPA hosted three foreign delegation visits during India Maritime Week 2025. Delegations from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Sweden visited JNPA to explore collaboration in port management, skilling and training, and sustainability. The discussions focused on technology transfer, innovation in cargo handling, and the exchange of
knowledge in sustainable port development, underscoring JNPA’s growing reputation as a hub for global maritime cooperation.
JNPA’s excellence and innovation were also recognised during the week with two prestigious awards. The port received the Indian Port of the Year and for the Port led Development. These accolades reaffirm JNPA’s position as a benchmark in responsible and future-ready port operations.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Gaurav Dayal, IAS, Chairman, JNPA, said, “India Maritime Week 2025 provided JNPA with an excellent platform to showcase our ongoing projects, strategic vision, and collaborations that are shaping the next phase of India’s maritime growth. The MoUs signed and discussions held during the week will further accelerate our efforts toward building sustainable, efficient, and globally competitive port infrastructure.”
With the success of its participation at India Maritime Week 2025, JNPA continues to strengthen its leadership role in India’s maritime ecosystem, driving forward projects like Vadhvan Port, ‘ShivDurg’, a visionary 20-storey corporate office complex he upcoming state-of-the-art infrastructure, was highlighted at IMW 2025.
Located along Mallet Bunder Road, adjacent to the Ferry Wharf and Domestic Cruise Terminal of the Mumbai Port Authority, this landmark project will redefine maritime infrastructure and corporate excellence, enhancing port efficiency, and advancing the nation’s vision of becoming a global maritime hub.
About JNPA:
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is one of the premier container-handling ports in India. Since its inception on May 26, 1989, JNPA has transformed from a bulk cargo terminal into the premier container port in the country.
Currently, JNPA operates five container terminals – NSFT, NSICT, NSIGT, BMCT and APMT. The Port also has a Shallow Water Berth for general cargo. A Liquid Cargo Terminal present at the JNPA Port is managed by the BPCL-IOCL consortium and the additional liquid cargo terminal developed by JNPA will be operated by M/s JSW – JNPT Liquid Terminal Pvt. Ltd. Additionally, the newly constructed coastal berth links other Indian ports and facilitates enhancing the traffic of coastal containers.
Nestled across 277 hectares of land, JNPA also operates a meticulously designed multi-product
SEZ, with state-of-the-art infrastructure, to boost export-oriented industries in India.
JNPA is also developing an all-weather, deep-draft, greenfield port at Vadhvan, the 13th Major
Port of India in Maharashtra. It is poised to be among the top 10 ports globally and will be a 100%
green port since its inception.
