MUMBAI: Marking a major stride in India’s maritime manufacturing journey, Bapu’s Shipping Jamnagar Pvt. Ltd., the flagship company of Bapu’s Group of Companies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, to establish a state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility capable of constructing vessels up to 120 meters in length (LOA).

The MoU was signed during the ongoing India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai — a flagship event organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) — underscoring the government’s focus on promoting indigenous shipbuilding and private sector participation in the blue economy.

The strategic collaboration aligns with the national vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Viksit Bharat 2047,” aimed at building a self-reliant and globally competitive shipbuilding ecosystem.

Present at the ceremony were Shri P. K. Roy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Shipping; Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority; Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Deputy Chairman, DPA; Shri V. Raveendra Reddy, Chief Engineer, DPA; Shri Bhupendrasinh Jadeja, Chairman, Bapu’s Group of Companies; and Shri Samarth Bhupendrasinh Jadeja of Bapu’s Group.

Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, Chairman, DPA, hailed the initiative as a reflection of India’s growing maritime ambitions under the Make in India mission, adding that such partnerships are vital for innovation, infrastructure development, and sustainable industrial growth.

Expressing gratitude for the partnership, Shri Bhupendrasinh Jadeja said, “This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our vision to contribute to India’s shipbuilding capabilities. Together, we aim to build not just ships but a stronger, self-reliant maritime future for the nation.”

The proposed shipbuilding facility at Kandla is expected to enhance India’s indigenous production capacity, generate employment, and strengthen the maritime industrial ecosystem on the country’s western coast.
