BEML Ltd drives sustainable mobility for a future-ready Bengaluru
BENGALURU : Bengaluru has significant ground to cover in expanding its metro network, and the city is progressing at a commendable pace, said Shri Rajeev Kumar Gupta, Director (Rail & Metro), BEML Ltd, while speaking on “Building a Future-ready Karnataka: Sustainable, Connected and Resilient Infrastructure” at the CII Karnataka Infrastructure Conclave, Bengaluru.
He emphasised the critical need for safe, reliable, and convenient metro-based commuting, which can substantially reduce road congestion and contribute to cleaner air and improved quality of life in the city.


Highlighting BEML’s contributions, he noted that the company has recently rolled out the prototype of Driverless Metro Trainsets for Bengaluru’s Pink Line. BEML currently manufactures over 45% of the country’s metro coaches, with this contribution expected to grow further in the coming years. He also underlined that Unattended Train Operations (UTO) represent the future of urban mobility, enabling higher frequency, efficiency, and reliability of metro services.
Reaffirming BEML’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, Shri Gupta stated that the company remains dedicated to supporting Bengaluru’s transformation into a safer, cleaner, and more convenient city to live in through advanced rail and metro technologies.
