PARIS: France-based BIO-UV Group has strengthened its presence in Southern Europe by appointing Italian marine solutions company Navaltecnica Srl as its official agent and distributor for ballast water and other shipboard water treatment solutions in Italy.

Under the agreement, Navaltecnica will promote and support the full range of BIO-SEA ballast water treatment systems, together with BIO-UV Group’s portfolio of drinking and swimming pool disinfection solutions designed for vessels of all types.

The partnership with Navaltecnica will initially target Italy’s yacht, cruise, and naval shipbuilding sectors, where demand for compliant and efficient water management technologies continues to grow.

Founded over 25 years ago, Navaltecnica has become a trusted supplier to Italy’s shipbuilding and repair sectors, providing high-quality equipment and technical support to shipyards, ship owners, and naval authorities. Its engineering capability and established customer network are expected to expand BIO-UV Group’s foothold in one of Europe’s most dynamic maritime markets.

“The Italian maritime industry is known worldwide for its innovation and quality, from luxury yacht construction to complex naval programmes,” said Maxime Dedeurwaerder, Solutions Sales Director at BIO-UV Group. “Partnering with Navaltecnica allows us to bring our treatment technologies closer to customers in these key sectors, supported by a company that understands both the technical and operational requirements of this important sector.”

BIO-UV Group, headquartered in France, develops and manufactures a wide range of environmentally safe water treatment and disinfection solutions that utilise ultraviolet, salt electrolysis, ozone, and AOP technologies for a wide range of industrial applications. Its BIO-SEA ballast water treatment system is fully IMO and US Coast Guard approved and operates without chemicals, using a combination of filtration and UV disinfection. The system has been installed on 800+ vessels worldwide, including commercial ships, cruise ships, wellboats, offshore units, and yachts.

Sergio de Iudicibus, Chief Executive Officer of Navaltecnica, said the partnership represents a natural extension of the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable water treatment. “For more than two decades, we have supplied and serviced water treatment equipment to the Italian maritime sector,” he said. “BIO-UV Group’s technology is among the most reliable and environmentally responsible available today. Representing BIO-SEA in Italy allows us to provide our clients with proven solutions for ballast water management and onboard water quality that meet the latest international standards.”

Navaltecnica will also provide local after-sales and technical support for BIO-SEA systems, including commissioning, crew training, and maintenance. This local service capability is expected to shorten response times and enhance lifecycle support for owners and operators.

Maxime Dedeurwaerder added: “Italy is a key market for BIO-UV Group, not only for newbuild projects but also for retrofit opportunities. With Navaltecnica’s technical expertise and reputation for excellence, we are confident our cooperation will strengthen BIO-UV Group’s presence and help more shipowners achieve regulatory compliance efficiently.”

The partnership follows BIO-UV Group’s broader strategy to expand its European distribution network through partnerships with established maritime engineering specialists. The company continues to invest in regional partnerships that combine local knowledge with BIO-UV Group’s manufacturing and R&D capabilities in France, enabling more responsive customer support worldwide.

Both companies are also exploring opportunities for joint participation at upcoming maritime trade events in Italy and across Europe to showcase BIO-SEA’s latest developments and reinforce their collaboration.

BIO-UV Group’s maritime division, headquartered in Lunel, France, supplies IMO- and USCG-type-approved ballast water treatment systems to shipyards and shipowners globally. The company also offers a complete range of UV-based water treatment technologies for onboard drinking water and leisure water applications.

Navaltecnica, based in Rome and La Spezia, provides marine equipment, installation, and after-sales services to Italy’s shipbuilding and repair industries, with a strong presence in the naval and luxury yacht sectors.
