CBIC notifies March 29, 30, and 31 as Working Days for Customs Field Formations
NEW DELHI : The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) has issued a directive mandating that all field formations of Customs across India will remain open on March 29, 30, and 31, 2025. These days will be considered official working days for Customs operations.
The notification, issued by Sanjeet Kumar, Under Secretary (Cus IV), states that this decision has been taken to ensure the smooth functioning of Customs services and to facilitate trade and business operations. All Principal Chief Commissioners, Chief Commissioners, and other senior officials have been instructed to bring this to the notice of officers and staff under their jurisdiction for compliance.
This move is expected to help businesses, importers, and exporters by minimizing disruptions in customs clearance procedures at the end of the financial year. The directive has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the decision, stating that extended working days will prevent delays in import-export clearances and contribute to efficient trade facilitation.
