Central Railway’s Nagpur Division achieves Rs 472 Crore freight earnings in May, marking a 1.3% increase from last year

NAGPUR : The Central Railway in a statement announced that the Nagpur Division of Central Railway achieved freight earnings of Rs 472.03 crore in May by loading 1,142 rakes. This reflects a 1.3 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. 

According to the release by the Central Railway, this accomplishment highlights the division’s dedication to consistently delivering value to its stakeholders. From April 24 to May 24, the division’s cumulative earnings reached Rs 892.18 crore, demonstrating sustained momentum in freight transportation services. 

Specifically, earnings from coal traffic amounted to Rs 386.02 crore, with 910 rakes loaded. This marks a 15 per cent increase over the corresponding month of last year, which saw earnings of Rs 335.48 crore with 869 rakes loaded.

CR commissions electronic interlocking at CSMT

Moreover, the Central Railway on Sunday announced that it successfully completed the commissioning of Electronic Interlocking at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai and the widening of platforms at Thane station ahead of schedule. 

According to a CR release, the first train from CSMT after the block departed for Tilwala at 1.10 pm on Sunday. CR stated that the massive task of commissioning Electronic Interlocking at CSMT for the extension of platforms 10 and 11, as well as the widening of platforms 5 and 6 at Thane station, was accomplished well before the targeted time to ensure smooth travel for all commuters.
