Chennai Port hosts Roadshow to spotlight India Maritime Week 2025
CHENNAI: Chennai Port organised a “Workshop-cum-Roadshow on Catalyzing Maritime Excellence: People, Infrastructure & Opportunities” as part of the run-up to India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, scheduled from October 27 to 31 in Mumbai.
The event drew participation from over 150 delegates, including senior officials from the Government of India, Government of Tamil Nadu, major and private ports, shipping lines, EXIM trade, chambers of commerce, academia, and research institutions.

Delivering the keynote address, Shri T. K. Ramachandran, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), highlighted the government’s commitment to positioning India among the world’s leading maritime nations. He underscored the significance of recent international engagements, including the India-ASEAN Cruise Dialogue in Mahabalipuram and the BIMSTEC maritime event in Visakhapatnam, aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation.
Shri Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairman, Chennai and Kamarajar Ports, led discussions on recent initiatives under two thematic areas: “Projects, Schemes & Public-Private Partnerships” and “Human Resource Development.” He detailed policy measures such as the introduction of Model Concession Agreements for PPP projects, streamlining environmental clearance processes, capacity-building initiatives, standardisation of regulations, and the centralised recruitment drive to enhance workforce efficiency.
Speakers from across the maritime ecosystem — including industry experts, trade representatives, and academia — emphasised the need for collaborative growth and invited stakeholders to actively participate in IMW 2025.
Set to be held in Mumbai this October, India Maritime Week 2025 will serve as the nation’s premier platform for showcasing advancements in ports, shipping, and waterways. The event will bring together global and domestic leaders, featuring high-level dialogues, thematic sessions, business forums, and exhibitions to accelerate India’s journey toward a sustainable, innovation-driven maritime future.
