CULines unveils new shipping service linking Sokhna and Aden Ports
CAIRO : CULines, the Chinese shipping line, has announced the launch of a new weekly maritime service connecting Ain Sokhna Port in Egypt with Aden Port in Yemen. This service, part of CULines’ expansion strategy across Asian markets, is set to begin operations later this month.
The service will follow a route from Ain Sokhna Port, passing through Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, before reaching its final destination in Aden, Yemen. Designed as a reliable and efficient transport solution, the service aims to meet the growing demand for cargo shipments in the region.
CULines stated that pricing for the service will be competitive and accessible to all segments of the Egyptian market, catering to a diverse range of exporters and importers. The new route is expected to attract businesses across Arab markets, particularly those seeking cost-effective and dependable shipping options.
The introduction of this service aligns with the broader trend of Chinese feeder shipping lines bolstering operations at Egypt’s major ports, including Alexandria, Damietta, Sokhna, and Abu Qir. These ports serve as strategic hubs for transshipment, enabling the efficient distribution of cargo to European and Mediterranean markets via CULines’ feeder vessels.
Feeder operations, which play a crucial role in global shipping logistics, rely on smaller vessels with capacities ranging from 500 to 3,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). These ships redistribute cargo from larger vessels at hub ports to regional destinations, ensuring seamless connectivity between global and local supply chains.
The new Sokhna-to-Aden service marks another step in CULines’ mission to enhance its regional network, providing exporters and importers with improved access to key markets while strengthening the role of Egyptian ports as pivotal nodes in the global maritime trade ecosystem.
