Debjit Roy assumes leadership as President of POMS India Chapter, strengthening Academia-Industry Synergy
AHMEDABAD : In a significant development for the operations and supply chain ecosystem, noted academician and researcher Prof. Debjit Roy has taken over as President of the India Chapter of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). The globally respected professional body is dedicated to advancing research and practice in production and operations management, playing a crucial role in fostering academic excellence, industry collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
Roy’s appointment marks a strategic moment for the India Chapter as it continues to expand its footprint in bridging academia with industry needs. Under his leadership, the organization is expected to further strengthen its role in shaping thought leadership and driving innovation in operations and supply chain management.
Prior to this appointment, Roy built an illustrious academic and research career across some of the world’s most prestigious institutions. His tenure includes impactful contributions at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Throughout his career, he has held key positions such as Professor, Area Chairperson, and Founding Co-chair of Transportation and Logistics initiatives.
Roy’s work has consistently focused on advancing research in operations and decision sciences, while also fostering global academic collaboration. His contributions have been instrumental in strengthening interdisciplinary research and developing frameworks that address real-world challenges in manufacturing systems and supply chain management.
He holds a Ph.D. and MS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in Decision Sciences and Manufacturing Systems Engineering—an academic foundation that has underpinned his extensive contributions to research and thought leadership in the field.
With his deep domain expertise and forward-looking vision, Roy’s leadership is expected to usher in a new phase of growth for the POMS India Chapter.
