Deendayal Port Authority appoints 12 persons on compassionate ground basis

GANDHIDHAM : The Compassionate Appointment Scheme formulated by Board of Deendayal Port Authority in the year 2016, for appointment of dependents of deceased employees of the Port, had been kept on hold on account of certain procedural issues for the past few years.

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) of Kutch, Shri Vinod Chavda; the Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly of Gandhidham, Smt. Malti K. Maheshwari and Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly of Anjar, Shri Trikambhai Changa had been raising the issue of hardships and injustice being faced by the dependents of the deceased employees of Kandla Dock Labour Board from time to time and had been demanding for effective implementation of the Compassionate Appointment Scheme at Deendayal Port Authority.

Board of Deendayal Port Authority took up the matter with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Ministry issued clarifications in the year 2023.

Considering the grievances being raised by Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) of Kutchch, Shri Vinod Chavda, and in light of the clarifications received from the Ministry, the Board of Deendayal Port Authority, after completing due formalities, in its meeting held on 04/09/2024, considered the applications of the dependents of the deceased employees of Cargo Handling Division (erstwhile Kandla Dock Labour Board); and resolved to appoint 12 persons on compassionate ground. The Deendayal Port Authority has issued Orders appointing these 12 persons on 18/09/2024;

The Chairman, DPA, Shri Sushil Kumar Singh informed that the Port is determined to implement all the Schemes aiming at welfare of the people as well as those for the employees working in the Port.
