Deendayal Port Authority celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour

GANDHIDHAM : Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with grandeur and national pride. Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman DPA, hoisted the National Flag in the presence of the Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, Dy. Chairman, Shri J.K. Rathod, CPES, Chief Vigilance Officer, other senior officials, CISF personnel, school children, Board Members, trade unions, employees and general public at large. The event reflected the unity, dedication and patriotic spirit that drives the nation forward.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman DPA highlighted DPA’s landmark achievements, that the Port recorded its best-ever cargo throughput of 150.16 Million Metric Tonnes in FY 2024–25, the highest growth rate among all major ports in the country. He emphasised that such milestones are possible only because of the dedication, hard work and teamwork of the DPA family.

This year, DPA made significant strides towards sustainability and technological advancement, including : • Commissioning of India’s first Make-in-India 1 MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Kandla, strengthening the nation’s Net Zero vision.
• Ordering India’s first fully electric green tug with zero carbon emissions.
• Signing an MoU with DP World and Nevomo to introduce an Autonomous Magnetic Rail Freight System.
• Launching welfare initiatives for port workers, including ration kit distribution and modern safety equipment.
• Initiating projects for Bio-Methanol bunkering services and clean energy equipment adoption.

Chairman DPA called upon all employees to dedicate their energy, intellect and efforts towards the progress of the port and the nation, aligning with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
