DFCCIL Director Reviews Connectivity and Operational Synergy at JNPT
MUMBAI: In a move aimed at strengthening multimodal connectivity and boosting logistics efficiency, Shri Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director (Operations & Business Development), Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL), visited the PSA Mumbai terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) to assess operational interfaces and explore opportunities for enhanced freight integration.

During the visit, Shri Bhatnagar held a detailed review meeting with Mr. Ashwin Arvind, Deputy Executive Director and Terminal Head, PSA Mumbai, focusing on current cargo handling processes, rail interface performance, and potential areas for technology-driven improvements. Discussions centred on streamlining container movement, improving turnaround times, and strengthening synchronisation between terminal operations and freight corridor services.
Shri Bhatnagar also interacted with Shri Ravish Kumar Singh (IRTS), Deputy Chairman, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), to examine broader connectivity linkages and ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing port–rail coordination. The engagement highlighted JNPA’s efforts to optimise its logistics ecosystem in alignment with the rapidly expanding freight capabilities of the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
A key part of the visit included an extensive walkthrough of the JNPT Railway Yard, where the DFCCIL team reviewed ground-level operations, terminal handling systems, and rail connectivity infrastructure. The on-site observations were aimed at identifying bottlenecks and ensuring seamless integration with DFCCIL’s high-speed freight network.
Shri Bhatnagar was accompanied by DFCCIL officers Shri Arvind Nagar, JGM (Operations), and Shri Venkatesh Chaturvedi, Manager (Operations), who participated in the technical assessments and discussions.
The visit marks another step toward reinforcing multimodal logistics efficiency, with DFCCIL and JNPA expected to continue collaborative efforts to strengthen India’s freight movement capabilities and support the nation’s growing trade volumes.
