DFCCIL : Record train operation efficiency achieved on 26th January 2026

NEW DELHI : DFCCIL marked Republic Day 2026 with a landmark achievement in national freight operations, delivering record train efficiency across its network. The day witnessed the highest-ever aggregate interchange between the Dedicated Freight Corridors and Indian Railways, along with the highest hand-over volumes from DFC to Indian Railways. A total of 907 freight trains were interchanged in a single day, surpassing the previous best of 898 trains recorded on 12.01.2026 and reflecting strengthened coordination and throughput across the national freight network.

Corridor-level metrics also reached new benchmarks, with the highest-ever interchange of 201 trains between the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) and East Central Railway (ECR), surpassing the earlier record of 198 trains on.01.2026. Similarly, the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) recorded its highest-ever interchange of 138 trains with North Western Railway (NWR), improving upon the previous best of 129 trains achieved on 06.11.2025.

As an operational interface, interchange denotes the formal transfer of #freight trains between DFCCIL and Indian Railways, including its zonal railways, at designated interface points. This process enables seamless movement of trains between the Dedicated Freight Corridor and the wider national rail network.
