DG Shipping in collaboration with IRS & IMEI to Host Interactive Workshop on ‘India at the IMO’ in Mumbai Today

MUMBAI: The Directorate General of Shipping, in collaboration with the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and the Institute of Marine Engineers (India) (IMEI), will host an interactive workshop on “India at the IMO: Policy, Partnership & Progress” today at the IRS headquarters in Powai, Mumbai.

Organized under the MoPSW Neel Arth Vision Implementation Cell initiative, the workshop will bring together senior government officials, maritime leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on India’s active role at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and its growing influence in global maritime governance.

The programme will feature keynote addresses by senior dignitaries, technical presentations on IMO processes, and insights into NAVIC Cell initiatives aimed at enhancing India’s maritime navigation capabilities. Additionally, dedicated sessions on the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) and the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) will highlight India’s contributions to environmental sustainability, maritime safety, and regulatory advancements.

The workshop will also focus on upcoming initiatives such as India Maritime Week 2025, strategies to strengthen stakeholder engagement, and future policy frameworks to align India’s maritime sector with international best practices.

By fostering collaboration between government bodies, industry stakeholders, and global partners, the event aims to amplify India’s voice at the IMO, accelerate sustainable growth, and position the country as a leading maritime hub.
