DG Shipping meets Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) at IMW 2025

MUMBAI : At India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, a high-level bilateral meeting was held on 27th October between the Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping), Government of India, and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) to advance cooperation in the maritime domain.

The discussions were led by Shri Shyam Jagannathan, Director General of Shipping, and Mr. Sergey Kulikov, Director General of RMRS, and focused on enhancing collaboration in maritime safety standards, ship surveys, certification, and technical exchange programmes. Both sides explored pathways for mutual recognition of training and inspection protocols, as well as joint initiatives in shipbuilding and classification technologies.

The meeting underscored the shared vision of India and Russia to promote safer, greener, and more efficient maritime operations, in line with international conventions and sustainable shipping practices. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to fostering institutional linkages and leveraging innovation for the future of global maritime safety and sustainability.
