DG Shipping participates in Global Maritime Summit 2025

DUBAI : The Directorate General of Shipping, proudly participated in the Global Maritime Summit 2025 held on 12th June 2025 at the Millennium Plaza Downtown Hotel, Dubai.

Representing the Directorate, Shri Deependra Singh Bisen, Deputy Director General (Training), delivered a keynote address on behalf of the Indian maritime administration. His speech highlighted India’s strategic alignment with the five transformative pillars of maritime progress — Digitalisation, Decarbonisation, Diversity, Design, and Development — and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and inclusive growth.

Key points from the address included:
India’s robust digitalisation initiatives, such as the e-Samudra platform and transparent e-Examination systems under Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047.

Major green shipping efforts including the Green Shipping Policy and proposed dedicated Green Shipping vertical under DG Shipping.

Extensive skilling and reskilling programs for the future-ready maritime workforce, including offshore competencies.

Commitment to gender equity and mental wellness through flagship programs like “Sagar Me Yog” and “Sagar Me Samman”.

The Directorate reiterated India’s readiness to collaborate globally in pursuit of IMO 2050 decarbonisation targets and a more equitable maritime future.

A special word of appreciation to Ganpat University for their exemplary initiative in conceptualising and hosting this summit, and for showcasing the strength of India’s maritime education and training ecosystem on a global stage.
