DITF 2024 logs US $ 35.62 million in export orders
DHAKA : The 28th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) has brought in Taka US $ 35.62 million in export orders, a 17 per cent increase from the previous year, according to the commerce ministry.
Organised by the Export Promotion Bureau, the DITF came to a close at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in the Purbachal area of Dhaka on Tuesday.
About nine of the 304 booths and pavilions that were set up at this year’s fair were run by international businesses from five different nations: Singapore, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Turkey.
Exhibitors demonstrate local and foreign products, including apparel, jute and leather goods at their stalls at the fair. Traders also provided various promotions to attract customers.
Along with local businesses, Indian, Pakistani, Hongkong, Turkish and Iranian businesses displayed carpets, jewellery, hand- and machine-made designer bed-sheets, carpets, footwear and other items
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu speaking as a chief guest stated that DITF will be diversified from next year to increase the country’s exports.
“Seminars and symposiums will be organised next year to attract more foreign buyers,” he added.
A total of 41 stalls were honoured with crests in different categories for their exemplary performance at this year’s DITF.
Among others, Mahbubul Alam, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and AHM Ahsan, vice-chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau, also spoke.
