DNV visit to DPA Kandla for Port Readiness Level (PRL) Assessment

GANDHIDHAM : As part of its commitment to sustainable maritime practices and green shipping initiatives, Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla is actively working towards enabling Bio-Methanol Bunkering at Kandla. To assess the Port Readiness Level (PRL) for this transition, DPA has engaged experts from DNV, who are globally recognized in maritime classification, risk management and sustainability solutions.

The DNV team commenced their visit today with an insightful discussion and presentation at the Administrative Building, DPA. Following this, the team, accompanied by senior officers of DPA, undertook a detailed inspection of port facilities to evaluate the readiness level for Bio-Methanol as an alternative fuel, in alignment with India’s broader Decarbonization and Maritime Sustainability goals.

This collaboration with DNV aligns with DPA’s vision of becoming a Green Hydrogen Hub for Green Fuel Bunkering and a frontrunner in sustainable port operations. The assessment will help DPA strategize future investments and infrastructure development for alternative fuel bunkering, thereby reinforcing its role as a leader in India’s Green Shipping transition. Furthermore, this initiative will contribute towards qualifying DPA under the Maritime Green Digital Shipping Corridor from Singapore to Rotterdam, strengthening its position in global sustainable maritime trade.

With this initiative, DPA is stepping forward towards cleaner, greener and more energy-efficient maritime trade, reducing carbon emissions in shipping operations.
