DP World and Hapag-Lloyd renew long-Term agreement to boost port operations in Brazil
SANTOS : Ten-Year Contract Solidifies Partnership as DP World advances major expansion at Port of Santos. DP World, a global leader in logistics and supply chain solutions, has announced the renewal of a long-term agreement with Hapag-Lloyd, one of the world’s largest shipping lines, for container handling operations at the Port of Santos. This contract renewal reaffirms the strong partnership between the two companies and secures the continuity of Hapag-Lloyd’s container operations for the next ten years.
The agreement provides a solid foundation for Hapag-Lloyd to continue expanding its presence in the Brazilian market, ensuring predictability and efficiency for its regional business development. For DP World, the contract enables the handling of new volumes and maritime services for Hapag-Lloyd while continuing to efficiently and sustainably serve other shipping lines, reinforcing DP World’s role as an independent and competitive terminal in Santos.
Santos Terminal Expansion Underway
To meet the growing demand, DP World is advancing a significant port capacity expansion plan at its Santos terminal.
On August 21, 2025, DP World marked the groundbreaking for its quay expansion works on the left bank of the Port of Santos. Scheduled for completion in August 2026, the project will add 190 meters to the existing quay, extending its length to 1,290 meters. This extension will enable the terminal to accommodate larger container vessels. The expansion also includes the acquisition of new equipment for container operations. With these investments, the terminal’s annual handling capacity will increase to 1.7 million TEUs by 2026, establishing DP World Santos as one of the most modern private multipurpose terminals in Brazil.
