DP World starts new rail freight service linking Ahmedabad to Mundra
AHMEDABAD : DP World announced on Tuesday the launch of a new rail freight service connecting Sachana, Ahmedabad Inland Container Depot (ICD) to Mundra.
DP World stated that the new service will operate every Tuesday and Friday, with the aim of facilitating exports and imports from Ahmedabad and nearby areas. The specialised train service is designed to improve business efficiency for customers.
The company also mentioned that precisely scheduled deliveries from ICD Sachana-Ahmedabad to Mundra will ensure a guaranteed transit time of 24 hours.
DP World subcontinent vice president of Rail and Inland Terminals Adhendru Jain said, “Our new rail freight service from Sachana-Ahmedabad to Mundra port gives customers assured connectivity to the port and will help make the supply chain more predictable”.
Record freight loading and electrification achieved by Indian Railways
During the fiscal year 2023-24, authorities disclosed that a total of 7,180 route kilometers of railway tracks were electrified, representing a historic milestone for the national transporter. This figure exceeds the 6,565 route kilometers of tracks electrified in the previous fiscal year 2022-23.
