
DPA Chairman inaugurates 54th National Safety Week 2025 at Deendayal Port Authority
GANDHIDHAM : Shri Sushil Kumar Singh, IRSME, Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), inaugurated the 54th National Safety Week 2025 by lighting the ceremonial lamp at DPA, Kandla. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Shri C. Harichandran, Deputy Chairman (I/C), Shri J.K. Rathod, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), Heads of Departments (HODs), senior port officials, representatives of trade unions and trade associations, stakeholders, port users, employees, and workers.


The inauguration began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by the presentation of plant saplings to the dignitaries as a symbol of sustainability and safety. Shri Kishan Bhatt, Manager (Safety & PSM), delivered the welcome address, outlining the key initiatives planned for the 54th National Safety Week at DPA. The week-long activities include:
• Virtual Reality (VR) Simulator-based Driving Safety Training for truck, bus, and car drivers.
• Safety Competitions to enhance awareness and engagement.
• Mega Medical Campaign for employee well-being.
• Screening of Safety Films on vehicle safety.
• PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Demonstration Campaign to reinforce compliance.
• Firefighting Drills & Safety Awareness Programs on LPG, electrical, and traffic safety for DPA staff and their families.
• Safety Fun Games and Training Sessions for students from BVM School, Kandla.
• Safety Award Ceremony & Cultural Program, including a special dance performance on the safety theme during the closing ceremony.
Shri Bhavesh Madhavi led the Safety Pledge, highlighting key aspects of the newly launched DPA Safety Manual. Shri Priyabrata Shaw, Additional Assistant Director, Dock Safety, Kandla, shared insights on the significance of “Safety & Well-being: Crucial for Viksit Bharat.” Shri B. Ratna Sekhar Rao, Traffic Manager, underscored the importance of integrating safety into daily operations at all levels. Deputy Chairman (I/C) Shri C. Harichandran emphasized the critical role of comprehensive training in preventing workplace accidents, reinforcing safety as a cornerstone of national progress.
Chairman Shri Sushil Kumar Singh lauded the introduction of the DPA Safety Manual, marking it as a milestone initiative towards achieving a zero-accident workplace in alignment with India’s Vision 2047. He also inaugurated the Virtual Reality Simulator-based Driving Safety Training Module, experiencing its capabilities firsthand and highlighting its potential in enhancing road safety awareness.
In his address, Shri Sushil Kumar Singh urged all port users and employees to actively participate in the various safety initiatives throughout the week. He emphasized that National Safety Day should serve as a catalyst for continuous safety improvements, reinforcing that the well-being of the workforce is integral to the success of both the port and the nation.
A significant highlight of the event was the launch of the DPA Safety Anthem – “जीवन रक्षा – संकल्प सुरक्षित जीवन का,” reinforcing a collective commitment to safety.
The event concluded with key safety messages and a Vote of Thanks delivered by Shri Sudipta Banerjee, Senior Deputy Traffic Manager.
