DPA Kandla marks milestone with arrival of India’s first premium products vessel
GANDHIDHAM : In a landmark development, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla has received MV Capetan Vassilis II, India’s first Premium Products Vessel, which berthed at Cargo Jetty No. 02.
This marks a major shift in the transportation of premium crop nutrition products, which have traditionally been shipped in containers. For the first time, these high-value agricultural inputs are being moved through a bulk carrier, signaling a breakthrough in supply chain efficiency and cost optimization.
The initiative underscores DPA’s growing role in advancing India’s agri-logistics ecosystem, enhancing the movement of essential inputs, and strengthening the nation’s commitment to farmers’ welfare.
The consignment was imported by YARA, a leading global crop nutrition company, with Rishi Shipping handling the stevedoring operations.
Officials at DPA hailed the occasion as a “transformative step” in port operations and agricultural supply chain logistics, reflecting Kandla’s continued evolution as a hub for innovation and efficiency in maritime trade.
