EAM discusses release of 17 Indians aboard MSC Aries with Iranian counterpart

NEW DELHI : External Affairs Minister Shri S Jaishankar engaged in a conversation with H. Amirabdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on April 14 regarding the release of 17 Indian crew members from the MSC Aries.

The EAM wrote on X to share the news.

“Spoke to Iranian FM @Amirabdolahian this evening. Took up the release of 17 Indian crew members of MSC Aries,” stated Shri Jaishankar.

Additionally, he also stated that they had discussions about the present regional circumstances, emphasising the significance of de-escalation, practicing moderation, and reverting to diplomatic solutions.

“Discussed the current situation in the region. Stressed the importance of avoiding escalation, exercising restraint and returning to diplomacy. Agreed to remain in touch,” he wrote.
