HAMBURG : Hapag-Lloyd is strengthening its foothold in the Indian maritime sector through its strategic partnership with Mumbai-based J M Baxi Group. Holding a 40% stake in J M Baxi Ports & Logistics, the German shipping major is actively contributing to the development of marine terminal operations across several Indian ports.

In a significant move to bolster this collaboration, Hapag-Lloyd is set to introduce a dedicated shuttle service connecting Kandla Port—a key terminal under the joint venture—with the Middle East. Industry insiders report that the new loop service will commence by late July.

The planned port rotation includes Jebel Ali – Kandla – Jebel Ali – Shuaiba – Shuwaikh – Jebel Ali, with vessels scheduled to operate on a weekly basis. Each sailing will offer a loading capacity of approximately 550 TEUs from Kandla, enhancing trade fluidity and regional connectivity.

This initiative underlines Hapag-Lloyd’s commitment to diversified regional operations and its growing emphasis on India’s logistics potential.
