India and Netherlands forge Green & Digital Maritime Partnership at India Maritime Week 2025

MUMBAI : In a landmark development for maritime cooperation, India and the Netherlands have signed a key Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Maritime Cooperation and a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish a Green and Digital Sea Corridor during India Maritime Week 2025 here in Mumbai.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, and H.E. Robert Tieman, Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Netherlands.

This strategic partnership aims to enhance collaboration in green shipping, port development, digital transformation, inland waterways, and shipbuilding, aligning with India’s vision for sustainable and modern maritime growth under Amrit Kaal.

Following the signing, Minister Sonowal noted that the Netherlands is a “special friend and a valued partner,” emphasizing that the partnership will drive innovation and sustainability across the maritime ecosystem.

Shri Sonowal tweeted, “pleased to sign a key MoU on Maritime Cooperation and an LoI for establishing a Green & Digital Sea Corridor with HE Robert Tieman, Minister of Infrastructure & Water Management, Netherlands in Mumbai at India Maritime Week 2025. This partnership will boost our cooperation in green shipping, port development and digital transformation, driving sustainability and growth for Amrit Kaal.”

The meeting marks a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral ties and advancing joint efforts toward a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient global maritime network.
