India Strengthens Maritime Ties at Singapore Green & Digital Shipping Corridors Event
SINGAPORE: In a significant step towards advancing sustainable and technology-driven maritime practices, an Indian delegation led by senior officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways participated in the prestigious “Singapore Green and Digital Shipping Corridors” event on 20 April 2026. The event was hosted by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore as part of the globally recognised Singapore Maritime Week 2026.

The high-level Indian delegation included Shri Vijay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, MoPSW; Shri Sushil Mansing Khopade, Additional Director General of Shipping; Shri B.K. Tyagi, CMD of Shipping Corporation of India; Shri Venkatesapathy S, Joint Secretary, MoPSW; and Shri Aniruddha Chaki, Deputy Chief Surveyor (International Cooperation). Their participation underscores India’s growing commitment to global maritime sustainability and digital transformation.
The session served as a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration, featuring detailed exchanges on data-sharing frameworks and digitalisation initiatives among key Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC) partners. The discussions further reinforced the strategic importance of the India–Singapore Green and Digital Shipping Corridor Memorandum of Understanding signed on 3 September 2025, marking a pivotal milestone in bilateral maritime cooperation.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation by MPA on its cutting-edge initiatives in ship-to-shore and port-to-port data exchange systems. These advancements aim to enhance operational efficiency, transparency, and environmental performance across global shipping networks. Contributions from leading digital solution providers and insights from the Port of Rotterdam added further depth to the discussions, showcasing best practices and scalable innovations in smart port ecosystems.
The Indian delegation also explored a series of exhibitions featuring next-generation technologies in maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation, and automation. These included solutions focused on reducing emissions, optimising logistics, and leveraging data intelligence to enable greener and more efficient shipping corridors.
India’s proactive engagement at the event reflects its strategic vision to align with global sustainability goals while strengthening international partnerships. As maritime trade continues to evolve, such collaborations are expected to play a crucial role in shaping resilient, efficient, and environmentally responsible shipping networks for the future.
