IPA, CMEC and JTTRI sign MoU to strengthen India–Japan Maritime Cooperation and Research Collaboration
NEW DELHI : A significant milestone in maritime cooperation as the Indian Ports Association (IPA), Centre for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC), and Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute (JTTRI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The partnership seeks to strengthen cooperation in the areas of ports, maritime economy, logistics, transport connectivity, and sustainable maritime development. Through this collaboration, the three institutions will work together to promote academic exchange, undertake joint research initiatives, and facilitate knowledge sharing between India and Japan’s maritime and transport sectors.
The MoU is expected to create a robust platform for collaborative studies, policy dialogue, capacity building programmes, expert interactions, seminars, workshops, and exchange of best practices in port management, maritime trade, infrastructure development, and multimodal transport connectivity.
The agreement reflects a shared commitment to advancing innovation, enhancing technical expertise, and supporting evidence-based policymaking to address emerging opportunities and challenges in the global maritime ecosystem. It also underlines the importance of strengthening institutional linkages to drive resilient, efficient, and future-ready maritime and logistics networks.
By bringing together leading institutions from India and Japan, the collaboration aims to contribute towards sustainable maritime growth, improved regional connectivity, and stronger bilateral engagement in the maritime domain, further reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
