MUMBAI : Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) was estimated to achieve a throughput of over 6.43 million TEUs in fiscal 2023-24, at the time of going to press. It is a significant improvement over the 6.05 million TEUs registered in 2022-23 as well as the record 6.35 million TEUs the port handled in Calendar Year 2023.

Total traffic too attained a new high of 85.40 million tonnes as compared to 83.86 million tonnes in the previous fiscal.

The port is the sum of its terminals, who have again excelled in cargo handling, consolidating and enhancing the standing of JNPA as the key gateway for India’s international trade. PSA Mumbai led the way with 2.019 million TEUs, followed by APM Terminals Mumbai 1.578 million TEUs, NSICT 1.124 million TEUs, NSIGT 1.101 million TEUs and NSFT with 555,183 TEUs, at the time of going to press.

Mr Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairman of JNPA said “This achievement is significant considering that two terminals are still not able to work with full capacity. APM and NSFT are undergoing upgradation. In the next two years, we will touch 8 m TEUs and in next five years we will try to be first port to reach 10 m TEU.”

JN Port thus continues to scale new heights in its enduring journey of success and accomplishment. Another milestone beckons after the completion of the second phase of PSA Mumbai terminal, which is ongoing, that will add 2.4 million TEUs of capacity and take total capacity to 10 million TEUs.
